By mutual assistance and reciprocity can we achieve stability and progress

On November 30, 2020, the Selected Cases of China Singapore “the Belt and Road” International Commercial Trials (both in Chinese and English), jointly compiled by the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China and the Supreme Court of Singapore, was published. This is a useful attempt in case exchange and cooperation between the Supreme People’s Court of China and common law countries, and provides vivid materials for telling Chinese judicial stories. The China ASEAN Forum of Justices, the President’s Meeting of the Supreme Court of China Central and Eastern European Countries, the World Executive Assembly, the World Internet Rule of Law Forum, the World Environmental Justice Conference, and the International Forum on Judicial Cooperation on the Silk Road. More and more international conferences and judicial forums are led or participated in by Chinese courts, and the strong voice of Chinese justice is becoming increasingly prominent on the world stage.

At the same time, more and more outstanding foreign-related judicial talents are stepping onto the international stage. At the beginning of 2023, a member of the International Commercial Expert Committee and former judge of the International Commercial Court, served as an international judge at the Singapore International Commercial Court, the Qatar International Court of Justice, and the Dispute Resolution Center. Multiple judges have served as observers for the International Association for the Unification of Private Law, members of the Expert Group of Observers for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the United Nations Commission on Trade Law, and members of the Council of the Asian Commercial Law Association, fully demonstrating the level and image of China’s foreign-related judiciary.

The Supreme People’s Court will further promote the high-quality development of the International Commercial Court, improve the “one-stop” diversified settlement mechanism for international commercial disputes, increase the release of typical cases of the “the Belt and Road”, build the “the Belt and Road” legal database, strengthen the breadth and depth of international judicial exchanges and cooperation, and provide high-quality and efficient judicial services to Chinese and foreign parties at the same time, Continuously creating and enriching Chinese wisdom and experience in resolving international commercial disputes.
