Deepen judicial exchanges and cooperation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

On the afternoon of August 31, the China SCO Forum of Chief Justices of Local Courts (2022) was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The forum was hosted by Shandong Higher People’s Court and held in a combination of online and offline. Zhou Qiang, Chief Justice of the People’s Republic of China and President of the Supreme People’s Court, attended the opening ceremony online and delivered a speech. Zhou Qiang expressed the hope that all parties attending the meeting would hold high the banner of the “Shanghai Spirit”, carry out closer, efficient judicial cooperation, jointly seize new opportunities and meet new challenges, promote the construction of a closer community of shared future of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and make greater contributions to lasting peace and common prosperity in the world.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the SCO Charter and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the long-term treaty of good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation among member states, which is of landmark significance to the SCO. Over the years, the Supreme Courts of SCO countries have conscientiously implemented the spirit of the previous meetings of the Council of Heads of State of SCO Member States, carried out efficient cooperation in jointly combating cross-border crimes, negotiating to resolve cross-border trade disputes, deepening judicial assistance, strengthening judicial exchanges on epidemic prevention, and promoted regional peace, stability, prosperity and development.
