The Law Society of Hong Kong Unveils “Ethical Code for AI Deployment in Legal Practice”
Themed “Legal Professionals Collaborating to Advance the Eight Major Steps for High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation,” the event convened over 500 legal professionals from 32 jurisdictions, including representatives from 23 consulates-general, honorary consulates, and official entities. Focused on fostering cross-border legal collaboration, the conference reinforced partnerships among lawyers’ associations worldwide. Our legal team attended the event, aligning with global efforts to develop the Belt and Road Initiative through legal expertise.
Landmark AI Ethics Charter Sets Global Standards
The conference unveiled the Manifesto on the Legal Ethical Code of Conduct Regarding the Deployment of AI, establishing three core principles: Technology Neutrality, Data Sovereignty, and Human Oversight. Panels addressed cutting-edge issues such as ethical conflicts in cross-border AI legal services, algorithmic transparency, and liability frameworks. Officials from Singapore’s Attorney-General’s Chambers and a UN Commission on International Trade Law representative commended the manifesto as an “Eastern wisdom solution for global AI governance.”
Our firm reaffirmed its dedication to the Belt and Road Initiative. This year, we expanded partnerships with legal institutions in United Arab Emirates for cross-border dispute resolution projects. The President of The Law Society of Hong Kong emphasized: “This conference serves as a vital bridge for policy dialogue and operational synergy among global legal communities.” Moving forward, we will continue contributing to rule-making and delivering professional solutions to advance high-quality Belt and Road development.
